School Policies
Dress Code Policy
The District believes student dress impacts behavior and learning. Students are expected to dress appropriately for school. Any clothing or appearance that disrupts instruction is not allowed. Administrators may allow exceptions for special events.
Students who do not meet the dress code may be required to change clothing (provided by a parent or the school) and may not participate in class or activities until they are in compliance.
General Expectations
Clothing, accessories, hairstyles, tattoos, or face paint that promote or depict drugs, alcohol, gangs, violence, discrimination, hate, or pornography are prohibited. Sheer, ripped, or see-through clothing must have an appropriate layer underneath. Masks, face coverings (unless approved), and blankets are not allowed.
Head Coverings & Sunglasses
Hats, caps, bandanas, and similar items are not allowed indoors, unless for medical, religious, or school-approved reasons. Sunglasses are not permitted inside unless prescribed.
Tops
Tops must cover undergarments, shoulders, and stomach. Strapless tops are not allowed.
Bottoms
Pants, shorts, and skirts must be worn at the waist, cover undergarments, and be no more than 3” above the knee. No holes above the knee unless layered underneath. Swimwear is not allowed as regular clothing.
Footwear & Accessories
Appropriate footwear is required at all times. Accessories or jewelry that disrupt learning or pose a safety risk are not allowed.
Credit & Promotion System
The credit system ensures students earn promotion to the next grade level by successfully completing coursework. Advancement is not automatic—students must meet credit requirements.
Credits Earned (Per Trimester)
- Math: 1 credit
- Language Arts: 1 credit
- Science: 1 credit
- Social Studies: 1 credit
- Electives: 2 credits
(15 total credits per year)
Requirements
- Students must earn at least 85% of credits each year (13 of 15).
- Students may not fail more than one trimester in any core subject.
- A final grade of at least 70% (C-) is required to earn credit.
Attendance & Tardies
- Absences must be cleared by a parent/guardian.
- More than 7 absences in a trimester may result in loss of credit.
- Tardies occur when students are not ready at the start of class.
Credit Recovery
Students may recover lost credit through summer school or other approved programs. See the school counselor for options.
Retention
Students who do not meet credit requirements will not be promoted until requirements are completed.
