About Teaming

August 8, 2016

Dear Parents and Guardians:

Rigby Middle School is excited to announce the addition of teaming in sixth and seventh grade.  Organizing student learning by teams provides a more personalized academic environment as English, math, science, and social studies teachers work with the same group of students throughout the year.  With our school nearing 1300 students, teaming creates smaller communities within the larger school environment.

While teaming has positive impacts on student achievement, school climate, and home/school communication, it is important to note that schedule changes in sixth and seventh grade will be limited as changing out of one teacher’s class results in changing to a completely different team. Given that some teams are at capacity, we will record the names of students who want to move teams since there may be situations in which students on different teams want to change, making the switch possible.

Although teaming will not occur in eighth grade, the students will have the same math and English teachers throughout the year; each trimester science, social studies, and elective teachers may change.

We look forward to seeing you.

Best Regards,

Sherry Simmons
